On the map Linhir marks the point where the road from the western fiefs crosses the Gilrain on its way east toward Pelargir and the mouths of Anduin. It is a small place with an outsized position, since the ford controls movement along Gondor's southern coast.
On 11 March TA 3019 Angbor of Lamedon was fighting a losing action there against raiders landed from the Corsair fleet. Aragorn came down out of the hills from Calembel with the Grey Company and the Oathbreakers behind him, and the defenders fled as fast as the attackers did. Angbor alone held his ground and was persuaded to gather his men and follow.
From Linhir Aragorn rode on through Lebennin to Pelargir, reaching the fleet on 13 March. Angbor's four thousand men marched behind and came up the river later.
